'월든'은 무척이나 유명한 책이다. 전 세계적으로 유명한 것인지 우리나라에서 유독 유명한 것인지는 모르지만 월든의 저자가 1862년에 사망했으니 무려 200년이 지나 아직도 이 책이 사람들에게 읽히고 있다는 것은 굳이 확인을 하지 않아도 전 세계 사람들에게 유명하다는 뜻이 되지 않을까 한다. 그렇다고 모든 사람들이 전부 이 책의 제목과 헨리 데이비드 소로라는 저자에 대해 알고 있다는 의미는 분명히 아니다.
