Oh My Ghost Clients, Jung Kyung-ho and Seol In-ah

MBC's Friday-Saturday drama “No Mu-jin” has returned to viewers with Jung Kyung-ho and Seol In-ah in the lead roles. The reunion of Jung Kyung-ho and Seol In-ah, who are returning to drama after a long hiatus, has brought great joy to their fans. Since both actors have not been involved in any notable projects in 2024 aside from special appearances, their chemistry in this drama is generating even more anticipation. In particular, curiosity about the story they will portray together is growing.

The drama “No Mu-jin” presents a unique storyline that seamlessly blends seriousness and comedy. In particular, the process of No Mu-jin, played by Jung Kyung-ho, becoming a labor lawyer is a key point that brings laughter to viewers. The decisive factor that led No Mu-jin to quit his job was none other than Kim Dae-myung. Although it seemed that Kim Dae-myung would appear in this work as well, following his appearance in “Smart Doctor Life,” he left a strong impression with a short special appearance.
No Mu-jin, who left the company trusting Kim Dae-myung, drives his car full of hope, but is confronted with the shocking event of Kim Dae-myung's death due to his reckless driving. Later, he receives an offer from a senior colleague at the company to help him obtain his labor attorney license, and believing in his words, he works tirelessly to obtain the license. However, ironically, as soon as he obtains the license, his senior colleague quits the company. This situation seems to foreshadow No Mu-jin's turbulent future.

In the end, No Mu-jin has no choice but to start his own labor law office. His relationship with his wife, Kyung Soo-jin, is extremely cold, and the conflict within the family also forms a major part of the drama. Interestingly, the person who helps No Mu-jin is none other than his sister-in-law, Na Hee-joo, played by Seol In-ah. Na Hee-joo is the younger sister of No Mu-jin's wife, Kyung Soo-jin, and she plays an active role as an ally in a complicated relationship with No Mu-jin.
Na Hee-joo effectively takes on the role of a one-woman army at No Mu-jin's labor law office, handling the office's overall operations. Joining them is Go Gyeon-woo (played by Cha Hak-yeon), a journalist-turned-YouTuber who has a crush on Na Hee-joo. These three characters form a team not out of mutual understanding but rather out of their own circumstances and interests. Their chaotic efforts to run the labor law office form the main storyline of the drama.
However, they face a critical problem: they have no clients. In order to make a living, No Mu-jin and his team must go out into the field to find clients. They infiltrate factories with frequent accidents, meet with workers directly, and boldly attempt to gather information by filming the events that unfold. This scene shows how desperate their situation is.
In the process, the drama adds a touch of fantasy and presents No Mu-jin with strange phenomena. The scene where a drunk No Mu-jin hands his business card to a statue on the street and asks to be contacted if there are any problems is comical, but it also foreshadows the events that will unfold later. It is significant that the statue is of Jeon Tae-yeol, a martyr located in Seosan Market. Suddenly, the person in the statue, Bosal (played by Tang Jun-sang), appears and asks No Mu-jin for a favor, marking the beginning of a mysterious connection.
From this point on, Nomu-jin begins to see visions. He starts to see the ghosts of workers who died unjustly at their workplace. Through these ghosts, Nomu-jin comes to understand the truth behind the events that took place at the workplace and tries to resolve their grievances. Furthermore, as the ghosts possess Nomu-jin, he gains a clearer understanding of the whole story, and fantasy elements play an important role in solving the case.
The content of the drama itself deals with the dark side of the workplace and injustice, which can be somewhat heavy. However, the overall plot unfolds in a fairly comical manner, making it easy to watch without feeling burdened. Jung Kyung-ho excellently portrays the character of Noh Mu-jin, who switches between seriousness and humor, anchoring the drama, while Seol In-ah also brings vitality to the drama by fully displaying the lively and bubbly charm of Na Hee-joo.
“Labor Lawyer Nomu Jin” also draws attention as director Im Soon-rye's first drama directing project. The first episode recorded a viewership rating of 4.1%, but it dropped slightly to 3.2% in the second episode. The drama appears to follow an omnibus format, with each two-episode arc focusing on a single event. Through this drama, viewers will have the opportunity to confront and reflect on various aspects of society that they may not have been aware of before.
