Dear X TVING

Kim Yoo-jung Overcomes 'Dear X' Poster Plagiarism Controversy to Show Sociopath Acting! The new drama exclusively released on Tving is <Dear X>. The drama was controversial even before its release. This was because the revealed poster was nearly identical to the movie <Suspect X's Devotion>.
The production team immediately deleted it after confirming the fact. Unintentionally, this actually served to promote the drama. One gets the feeling that Tving put considerable effort into producing <Dear X>. It was also officially invited to the Busan International Film Festival, where its first two parts were screened.
Above all, Kim Yoo-jung's acting transformation stands out the most in the drama. Until now, she has mostly played good roles or shown a fresh, youthful image. Kim Yoo-jung, who also appeared in many melodrama genres, is completely different this time. She plays Baek A-jin, a character who can be called a villain and an antagonist.
Baek A-jin is a sociopath and has been different since she was young. While one could say sociopathy is innate, Baek A-jin's case could be said to be 'nurtured'. From a young age, her mother made her steal things from the supermarket. Her father pushed her down the stairs right in front of her when she was still preschool-aged.
The father says that doing such things to each other is a good thing. She has the personality to go out of her way to where her mother has collapsed to confirm her death. The beginning of the drama shows Baek A-jin entering an awards ceremony. It shows Baek A-jin succeeding as an actress, implying she is a genius at hiding her true self.
After that, it goes back to the past and shows the story of Baek A-jin as a high school student. At school, she is first in her class and seems to lack nothing. In the same class at school, there is Shim Sung-hee, played by Kim Yi-kyung, who is second in the class. She sees Baek A-jin as a thorn in her side and tries to slander her.
Baek A-jin has two friends who act as her helpers. One is Yoon Jun-seo, played by Kim Young-dae, whom she grew up with. Baek A-jin's father, Baek Sun-gyu (played by Bae Soo-bin), and Yoon Jun-seo's mother, Hwang Ji-sun (played by Kim Yoo-mi), live together, which is how Baek A-jin and Yoon Jun-seo came to be together since childhood.
Yoon Jun-seo is rich and helps Baek A-jin with everything except killing someone. Another person is Kim Jae-oh, played by Kim Do-hoon. He extorts money from students for Baek A-jin. Unlike Yoon Jun-seo, you can see him as the one who helps Baek A-jin from the shadows.
Baek A-jin doesn't necessarily bother others first. She only eliminates those who challenge her or get in the way of what she is trying to do. Whenever that happens, Yoon Jun-seo and Kim Jae-oh, who are called 'Dear X', help her. She is smart enough to be first in her class and is someone who knows how to hide her true intentions in her daily life.
Out of a total of 12 episodes, 4 have been released so far, and she is working a part-time job after graduating from high school. The original work is also composed of 4 parts, and the events that occur while working part-time make up Part 2. The story follows Baek A-jin's rise to the top and her subsequent ruin. It seems we will have to watch until the end to see what kind of acting transformation Kim Yoo-jung will show.
